Internship Opportunities

Summer internships at Fort Necessity National Battlefield provide a unique opportunity for students to earn Native American Study credits and interact with professional interpreters of culture and history. Part of the National Park System, Fort Necessity is about 45 minutes from Morgantown. It was the site of the first battle of the French and Indian War in 1754. The internship runs for six weeks and includes a small stipend plus housing, if needed. The opportunity involves researching Native American history and culture, taking part in living history presentations, and honing skills in writing and research.

There is also a paid summer internship available at Prickett’s Fort State Park, a 1700s settler fort near Fairmont, WV

There are also opportunities to learn about public programming and special event promotion as a student intern with the Native American Studies Program.
