Special Topic Courses

The NAS program offers students a wide range of topics and learning experiences. You can always check out our Facebook page, WVU Native American Studies Program, to read about our classes, cultural events, and other public programs. Some recent special topics courses have included: Environmental Justice in Indian Country; Native Women in Leadership; Black Indians; and Native Youth: Culture & History.

Multiple sections of our cornerstone course, “NAS 200: Introduction to Native American Studies,” both on campus and online, are offered throughout the year. Consult the schedule for availability. This class may be used to satisfy GEC 4 or 9, or GEF 7. Details on NAS Minor
